5 Reasons to Plan Several Posts At Once
5 Reasons to Plan Several Posts At Once - If you’re expecting your blog to be around for a while, you’ll be writing a lot of posts. Bulk writing – working on several posts at once – is one way I keep on top of writing new content.
Here are 5 reasons why you should look at bulk writing for your blog, as follow:
1. Grouping Can Be Quicker
Are you in the mood to do some planning? Then plan all of your posts for the week. Add brief thoughts on each post as you put your plan together. Then you only need to fill in the details of each post instead of starting from scratch whenever you want to write.
2. You’re Less Likely to Miss a Day
You don’t have to post every day, but it’s good to stick to a consistent posting schedule. Bulk writing means you can write when you’re in the mood to write.
This can help you to knock out a lot of posts in one sitting, or at least in an evening. And focusing on the planning allows you to have short, sharp bursts of inspiration for each post, instead of getting into a heavy dialogue and burning out after one post.
3. If You Get Stuck, You Can Move On
It’s a lot easier to step away from a post when you’re planning it. Summarising the key themes on a given topic means you don’t get too engrossed in the post, and you’ll be able to plan the next post with relative ease. If you don’t plan, you may get stuck in the middle of a post and abandon it altogether.
4. Interruptions Will Matter Less
For many of us, interruptions from the non-blogging world are inevitable. Bulk writing can help to minimise the impact of those interruptions. If you’re writing some post headings, you don’t have to finish the entire post if you get interrupted.
If you’re writing the detail underneath those headings, you can stop at the end of the section you’re on. It’s still a good idea to let others know when you’ll be writing so you can keep interruptions to a minimum, but at least with bulk writing, it’ll be less of an issue if something comes up.
5. Writing a Series Becomes Achievable
You can come up with some incredibly strong content if you write a series. Of course, it’s not always the case – and some topics are better as separate posts. But if you can think of a good series to write, try planning all of the parts together.
If you write the headings for the entire series, it’ll be easier to look at how much content you have overall, where to split the posts, how to make the content flow from one post to the next, and how to link it together.
And if the series spans more than 2 or 3 posts, perhaps it’s a good candidate for an eBook. But you’ll find it tough to write a series, or an eBook, unless you plan it carefully – and bulk writing may just help with that.
