Innovation is The Key to Success
Innovation is The Key to Success - Having the right innovative business ideas are crucial in today’s fast moving world. People go from peasants to kings overnight, and kings are brought down to the level of a peasant in the blink of an eye. If you want to truly stand out, you must lead in your field!
These are some of the people who have been hard at work to come up with things that make our lives easier. They just found a void for something and created either services or products that fill those needs. Sometimes its the simplest things we never even think about.
This guy’s name is Alan Jay Glueckman and he has created an eJamming service that allows bands from anywhere in the world to connect and literally “jam out” in real time without having to leave home!
No more hauling your heavy gear around just so you can practice in somebody’s garage or their mom’s basements. Now you can only annoy each other without the neighbors calling the cops on you because you suck. Moms and dads, feel free to send Mr. Glueckman a thank you letter for doing what you have been trying to ever since your kid started having dreams of grandeur.
Watch out BP, this guy is going to put you out of business! Craig Venter is one of those guys that is trying to save humanity by coming up with ways to break free from fossil fuels. He gained popularity in the 1990s by helping to map the human genome.
That is not what I want to talk to you about though – what he has done recently is the topic I want to shed some light on. This guy is so badass that he has been sailing around the world on a boat, taking samples of micro-organisms that live in the water almost every 200 miles.
Considering we know more about space than we do about our own oceans, there are a lot of interesting things living in there. These organisms have various different ways to create and store energy. Many of them do not even require sunlight to survive!
So what Mr. Venter wants to do is crack the genome codes for these organisms to figure out how we can stop using alternatives to fossil fuels! Now that’s innovation!
How can I be innovative?
I did not even know that people were researching this stuff, but I was wrong. There is always some crazy person out there that wants to find out everything there is to know. Some of these people have been trying to figure out what makes us tick.
One such surveys found what drives us to innovate and think outside the box. Most important factors that lead to innovation are as follows and the one on top being the most important.
1. Improved quality
Well this is a given. People innovate to make things that already are, better.
2. Creating new markets
If you are the first in your market, you will be making money.
3. Extension of the product range
This one got me thinking a little bit. What do they mean exactly? From my understanding this would cover things such as coming up with different chemical formulas for the same thing.
Think of cough medicine. Remember the last time you went to the store and there were many different types of Tylenol? One could make you drowsy and another will keep you awake.
4. Reduce labor costs
Companies are always looking to cut jobs and replace them with machinery. It is no surprise that sometimes the need to make smarter machines that work 24 hours a day without complaining about not getting paid overtime leads to innovation.
If you want to make money, you have to be innovative! Think outside the box. I know you have heard this before but still cannot come up with solutions. Finding ways to innovate start with looking within yourself.
- What do you like?
- What would you like?
- Are there people offering what you want?
If you want something that is not available, chances are that there are millions of people around the world who also want the same thing but cannot get it from anywhere. This is where you take your chances and figure out how you can monetize on this.
People generally look for ideas externally without first going to the best source first; themselves! You can even ask your friends and family members. Connect with them to find out the things they think about that can lead to great innovation!
