Advertising, One of Communication Marketing Media

Before discussing the term marketing communication, it would be better if we know in advance about the notion of marketing and the notion of communication itself. Marketing activities have a very broad scope, considering that marketing is a social science whose application is very universal.

Marketing is an activity when there is an individual or group of people who get what they need and want through the creation of offers and exchanges, be it goods or services, or value, with other parties that benefit.

While one understanding of communication is the activity of delivering a message or information that is conveyed and understood by other parties together. Marketing communication becomes one considering they are two social sciences that can unite at any time.

Communication marketing can be applied in various ways, with the main object being marketing. With activities that are mutually and want to meet needs, marketing can be communicated with anyone. At present, potential customers do not have a close distance from non-potential consumers. Marketing activities can also be communicated in line. 

There are two elements in marketing communications. First, the communicators themselves. It can be individually or as a group. The communication agent in question is, of course, the person who will send the marketing message and some people will receive the message.

The second element is the material of marketing communication itself. The material here can be in the form of ideas, messages, media that will be used for marketing communications, responses from the recipients of marketing communications, as well as possible disturbances when conducting marketing communications.

One way to do marketing communications, including promotion. In carrying out promotional activities, several things must be considered, including being able to examine the object or target of communication that we will send in marketing activities:

  • Determine the purpose of marketing communications to be carried out
  • Designing ideas and messages to be conveyed in marketing activities
  • Choose what kind of communication will be carried out
  • Determine the budget for promotional marketing communications
  • Determine what method will be carried out in this promotional marketing communication activity

One of the marketing communication activities that are promotional can be done through advertising. Surely many of us watch advertisements on television, and read advertisements in print media and also internet media. The objectives of advertising in marketing communications include:

  • Providing information about a new product
  • Propose the use of a product
  • Explain how the product works
  • Forming memories of people who watch or read advertisements for the brand of a product
  • Persuade buyers to buy immediately
  • Remind buyers that the advertised product is needed.

In addition to advertising, of course, many other ways are done in marketing communication activities.
